1978-1984 : Objectif Lune.

Early band experience at the boarding school.

• Objectif Lune : Rough rehearsal k7 tapes and demo-tape attempt.

Etienne Wathieu: basse, guitare, violon, chant
Alain Piette: batterie
Michel Constant: basse
Etienne Wathieu: basse, guitare, violon, chant
Marc Wathieu: guitare, basse, chant
Alain Piette: batterie
Didier Bourguignon: basse

Etienne Wathieu: guitare, chant
Marc Wathieu: guitare, chant
Diako Diakoff: basse, choeurs
Alain Pire: batterie, choeurs

About :

Objectif Lune (after famous Tintin's Destination Moon adventure) was a so-called first band (with all the awkwardness usually included), rather Rock/New Wave band and born at Athénée Royal Prince Baudouin in Marchin (Belgium) while we were residential students at the boarding school. We simply discovered music listening to hundreds of LPs, thanks to our seniors who baptized us with Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Canned Heat, Black Sabbath, The Who, Pink Floyd, Soft Machine, Jimi Hendrix, Moondog, Kraftwerk and so many awesome and inspiring artists.

The very first band we saw on stage my bro Etienne and me was french progressive rock band Carpe Diem at Le Croisic (France), 1976. I guess it was a decisive moment to decide to create music by our own and found our own band.

Objectif Lune began to rehearse featuring:
Etienne Wathieu: bass, guitar, violon, vocals
Alain Piette: drums
Michel Constant: bass

Then the band kept on with this line-up:
Etienne Wathieu: bass, guitar, violon, vocals
Marc Wathieu: guitar, bass, vocals
Alain Piette: drums
Didier Bourguignon: bass
Saxophonist Yves Bodson joined us sometimes for some dates.

Etienne composed the first songs, while we used to try to set up a kind of unlikely crossover between Pink Floyd and Neil Young.
As we choose to express ourself in our native tongue, our words were mostly inspired by french-talking artist like Dick Annegarn, Serge Gainsbourg, Nino Ferrer, Christophe, Yves Simon or Patrick Coutin.
Then we were strongly hit by the New Wave scene, with bands such as Talking Heads, The Cure or Joe Jackson.

So we essentially learned to be musicians in a band listening to records at the boarding school (or rented at the belgian media library called La Médiathèque), reading belgian rock newspaper More/En attendant or french magazines like Best, Rock en stock and Rock & Folk and listenig to radio shows like Impédance by Pierre Guyaut, Rock à Gogo By Jacques de Pierpont. But we also learned a lot while watching musical films (Woodstock, Tommy, Monterey Pop) or belgian TV shows like Pop Shop, and later Folllies and Ligne Rock presented by journalist Gilles Verlant, or again french TV shows like Les enfants du rock produced by Patrice Blanc-Francard and Chorus by Antoine de Caunes.

The last version of Objectif Lune was:
Etienne Wathieu: Guitar, vocals
Marc Wathieu: guitar, vocals
Diako Diakoff: bass, backing vocals
Alain Pire: drums, backing vocals

We recorded some songs on a kind of demo-tape but we were unable to find a record label.
Then we stopped as I was beginning to play with Les Révérends du Prince Albert.
End of the story. Great moments and early souvenirs on stage!
